Easy Lemon Drop Shot Recipe

Simple, refreshing, and full of bright citrus flavor, these fun shots are easy to make and of course, are delicious to enjoy. Although it’s in a shot glass, don’t let it’s little size fool you. It balances the tartness of lemon juice with the sweetness of simple syrup, and can pack a little punch with it’s vodka base. 

Of course, you can easily customize this drink by using flavored vodka or adding a splash of fruit juice or lemon lime soda for a fizzy flavor. I like to keep it simple with just a few basic ingredients and then enjoy them by the pool. But no matter how you serve them up, this fun lemon drop shot it going to be a hit at your next birthday party, bachelorette party, or family gathering.

Ingredients You Will Need

How to Make a Lemon Drop Shot

Step 1: Rub the rim of your shot glass with a lemon wedge, then dip the rim into a plate of sugar to coat it evenly.

Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup with a handful of ice. Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds, until the ingredients are well combined and it becomes chilled.

Step 3: Pour the mixture into the prepared shot glass. Garnish with a small lemon wedge, lemon peel curl, or drop one or two lemon drop candies in the shot glass. 

Tips for Making Perfect Lemon Drop Shots

  • Adjust the Sweetness: Taste as you mix! You can adjust the amount of simple syrup, vodka, and lemon juice, to suit your preference.

  • Make Your Own Simple Syrup: If you want to make your own simple syrup, just combine equal parts water and sugar into a small saucepan. Then on medium heat, bring it to a boil. Store it in mason jar or other container that has a lid.

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 lemon wedge, for garnish
