Easy Gummy Bear Shot Recipe

Served in traditional shot glasses, the sweet flavors of the drink are amazing, but the gummy bears steal the show. And don’t let the size fool you because this little drink has a lot of flavor.

One of the best things about making gummy bear shots, is they can be customized with a variety of flavored vodkas and juices. They can also be made to match a party or event theme and colors. And of course, who doesn’t love their favorite childhood candy combined with an adult twist.

Ingredients You Will Need

Ingredients needed to make gummy bear shots in their bottles on a marble table.
  • cherry vodka-flavored vodka is the base of the drink, and any berry flavored vodka works well.
  • peach schnapps-adds a sweetness to the drink, balancing the flavors.
  • sweet and sour mix-offsets the sweetness of the schnapps, while combining the fruity vodka flavors perfectly.
  • Splash of lemon-lime soda (like Sprite)– or pineapple juice
  • Gummy bears (for garnish)

How to Make White Gummy Bear Shots

Step 1: In a shaker, combine raspberry vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix with ice.

Step 2: Shake well until chilled.

Step 3: Strain the mixture as you pour into a shot glass, then top with a splash of lemon-lime soda.

Step 4: Garnish with a gummy bear on a toothpick.

How to Make a Gummy Bear Martini

To make a gummy bear martini, use two ounces of cherry vodka, one ounce peach schnapps, one ounce sweet and sour mix, and one ounce of lemon lime soda or pineapple juice.

Prepare martini glasses by dipping into simple syrup and sugar, creating a sugared rim. Then prepare in the cocktail shaker as written above.

Garnish: Skewer a few gummy bears on a cocktail pick and lay it across the rim of the glass. You can also drop a couple of gummy bears into the drink for a playful touch.

Tips for Making the Best Gummy Bear Shots

  • Pick a Fruity Flavor of Vodka: Choose your favorite flavor of vodka to make your gummy bear shot. I usually use cherry or raspberry vodka, but there are so many fun options like blueberry, strawberry and more!
  • Keep it Cold: I find that cold ingredients seem to mix easier, so chill the glasses before pouring.
  • Garnish with Gummy Bears: Add gummy bears as a fun garnish to the glass. You can either skewer them on a toothpick and place them across the shot glass, or just drop them into the bottom of the glass. If making a gummy bear martini, use the gummy bears on fun martini picks.

Gummy Bear Shot Variations

  • Gummy Bear Mocktail Shot: Don’t like alcohol? No problem! Make this a gummy bear mocktail shot by using fruit punch or a flavored sparkling soda instead of the vodka. Swap out the schnapps for fruit juices like pineapple juice or cranberry juice.
  • Make them Colorful: Use a juice with a bright color like cranberry or blueberry juice, or just add a tiny drop of food coloring to make them match your holiday or party theme.
  • Make it Frozen: Blend the ingredients with ice so it’s like a slushy, then garnish with gummy bears. I especially like this option during the summer, hanging out by the pool.
  • Celebration Gummy Bear Shot: Swap the lemon lime soda for champagne, prosecco, or Moscato, for special party treat.
  • Use fun Gummy Shapes: Use gummy worms for Halloween themed drinks, gummy watermelons for summertime drinks with watermelon vodka, Swedish fish, peach gummies or blue raspberry gummy bears to match your vodka flavors.
  • Make Vodka Infused Gummies: Soak the gummies with vodka in the fridge for a bit. They will expand a little as they absorb it, making them little vodka gummy bears that are an extra bonus treat after the shot!

FAQ’S

Can I make gummy bear shots ahead of time?

Absolutely! Combine the ingredients into a small pitcher and keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Just don’t add any carbonated liquids or the gummy bears until served. And of course, don’t add ice as that will water it down.

How can I make my shots more colorful?

Use different flavored vodkas, juices, or liqueurs for colors. Adding a splash of grenadine, blue curacao, or colorful syrups can also brighten the drink.

How strong are gummy bear shots?

The alcohol content depends on how much vodka and schnapps you use. Just be careful when using sweet and flavored alcohol drinks as they can be stronger than expected.

What’s the difference between a gummy bear shot and a white gummy bear shot recipe?

They are really the same, except for the vodka flavor and juices used. A “white” gummy bear shot uses the lemon lime soda or a splash of pineapple juice so it’s clear. A gummy bear shot has the same ingredients but may have a color appearance if using a juice like cranberry or blueberry juice.
