Making Valentine’s Day pancakes is incredibly easy, and the possibilities are endless. You can keep it simple with round pancakes filled with sprinkles, topped with whipped cream and berries. Or add a touch of food coloring and shape them into hearts for an extra touch.

They are also easy to customize by adding mini chocolate chips, or red and pink candies. If you’re in a hurry, or don’t have all of the pancakes ingredients on hand, you can even use a quick pancake powder mix. Just add the sprinkles and you have breakfast on the griddle. Tips for the Best Valentine’s Day Pancakes

  • Use Heart Molds: Shape your pancakes into hearts with a silicone heart shaped molds or shape them after making them with a heart shaped cookie cutter.
  • Don’t Overmix: Small lumps in the batter are okay and will result in fluffier pancakes.
  • Keep Pancakes Warm: Have oven warmed up to 200 degrees F and place cooked pancakes on a baking sheet in the oven. This will keep them warm while making the rest of the batter into pancakes.

Valentine’s Day Pancake Variations

  • Chocolate Lovers: Add mini chocolate chips to the batter or drizzle chocolate syrup or melted nutella on top.
  • Fruity Pancakes: Mix fresh or frozen berries into the batter or use them as toppings. Blueberries, strawberries, or even a sliced banana are great pancake toppers.
  • Make them Pink: Add a drop of pink or red food coloring gel to the batter to make fun and colorful pancakes.

FAQ’s

Can I make these pancakes ahead of time?

Yes! Cook the pancakes and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat them in a toaster or on a griddle when ready to serve. To freeze pancakes, first allow them to cool first. Then stack the pancakes with a piece of parchment paper in between the pancakes so they don’t stick together. Place them in a freezer storage Ziploc bag, pressing out as much air as possible before sealing. Keep frozen for 2-3 months.

What can I use if I don’t have food coloring?

You can use natural coloring like juice or use a blender to finely mash up raspberries or strawberries to add to the batter.

How do I store leftovers?

Place leftover pancakes in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave, toaster, or on a skillet.
