Ingredients to Make Cajun Chicken Alfredo

For the Chicken and Pasta

  • chicken tenderloins, chicken thighs, or chicken breasts- If using large pieces of chicken, cut into smaller pieces.
  • Cajun seasoning- Adds a spicy, smoky flavor.
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper
  • olive oil- For coating the pan before searing the chicken. 
  • fettuccine or your favorite pasta– Fettuccine works best to soak up the creamy sauce.
  • Water + salt for boiling

For the Sauce

  • unsalted butter– Adds richness.
  • cloves garlic, minced– Infuses the sauce with flavor.
  • cream cheese, cubed and softened– Makes the sauce extra creamy.
  • heavy cream– The base of the Alfredo sauce.
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese– Adds that classic cheesy goodness.

Homemade Cajun Seasoning

If you can’t find a jar of Cajun seasoning blend in the stores, you can make your own! Here’s an easy blend that you can adjust according to you taste. Mix the ingredients together until fully combined and then store in an airtight container or spice jar for up to 6 months.

  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika 
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make Creamy Cajun Chicken Alfredo Pasta

STEP 1 : Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain and set aside.

STEP 2: Season the chicken tenderloins with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

STEP 3: Reduce the heat to medium. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.

STEP 4: Add the cream cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly, and bring to a gentle simmer.

STEP 5: Stir in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and fully combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

STEP 6: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until fully coated. If the sauce is too thick, stir in a bit of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.

STEP 7: Slice the chicken if desired and place it on top of the pasta. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese. Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips for Making the Best Cajun Chicken Pasta

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan- It melts better and adds a richer flavor than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Cook the chicken until just done- Overcooking the chicken can make it a little chewy. If you can cook it to just done, it will stay tender and juicy.
  • Add veggies- Spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, or sun-dried tomatoes make great additions.
