Expert Tips

  • Make Bites Smaller: If you are making this for a party or event that will have toddlers, be sure to cut the hot dogs into smaller pieces, or even quarter them.
  • Do not overcook the hot dogs: Cooking too long can make the hot dogs split and become tough.
  • Use your favorite barbecue sauce: The barbecue sauce adds a lot of flavor, so use one you enjoy.
  • Make it ahead: This recipe reheats well and is perfect for parties and gatherings.
  • Keep warm for parties: Transfer the beanie weenies to a slow cooker on the warm setting for easy serving.
Cut up hot dogs, mixed with beans, in a white bowl with potato chips scattered around the dish.

  1. This looks like such a good, fun meal, especially for a day like Halloween, which is on the horizon.
I could cook this in just a few moments and have fun playing with the kids in the process. I could put one of the older ones in charge of it, and they would be learning to cook at the same time as enjoying all the other activities. 🙂
