“If there’s ranch dip on the table, you can pretty much guarantee it won’t last long.”

-Becky

This homemade ranch dip is perfect for veggies, chips, wings, and snack boards. Because it’s thicker than actual ranch salad dressing, I love using it for dipping because it stays creamy without getting runny.

What to Serve With Ranch Dip

  • This is the perfect dip to serve with fresh vegetables like carrots, celery, broccoli, cucumbers, snap peas, cauliflower, and bell peppers. It’s a classic choice for veggie trays and party platters.
  • This dip also works well with potato chips, pretzels, crackers, and pita chips for easy snacking. Because it’s thick and creamy, it doesn’t slide off or become watery as it sits.
  • For parties, ranch dip is great served alongside chicken wings, sliders, or other finger foods, making it a delicious party dip to have on hand.

Expert Tips

Chill before serving: Letting the dip rest allows the dried herbs to blend for better flavor.
Consistency matters: Dip should be thick and creamy. Stir gently before serving if it thickens too much in the refrigerator.
Make ahead friendly: Ranch dip can be made up to one day in advance and stored in an airtight container.

Ranch Dip FAQs

What is the difference between ranch dip and ranch dressing?

The dip is thicker and creamier than ranch dressing, making it better for dipping vegetables and chips. Ranch dressing is thinner and usually used for salads or drizzling.

Can ranch dip be thinned to make dressing?

Yes, this dip can be thinned by stirring in a small amount of milk or buttermilk until it reaches your desired consistency.

Can ranch dip be made ahead of time?

Yes, ranch dip tastes even better when made ahead. Making it a few hours or up to a day in advance helps the flavors fully develop.

How long does this dip last in the refrigerator?

Ranch dip will keep well for up to five days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
