Expert Tips

  • Cut marshmallows cleanly: Wipe scissors after each cut to keep colors from mixing.
  • Let sugar set: Allow marshmallows to dry before slicing so the colors don’t smear.
  • Watch closely while baking; Marshmallows can toast fast so remove them once they start to brown.
  • Serve warm: This dip is best enjoyed right out of the oven while the chocolate is still gooey and melty.

Patriotic S’mores Dip FAQs

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can prep the marshmallows and assemble the dip earlier in the day. Just wait to bake until right before serving for the best texture.

Can I use different chocolate?

Yes. Milk chocolate or white chocolate chips work just as well. You can also mix chocolates for a swirl effect under the marshmallows.

What if I don’t have sanding sugar?

You can use red and blue sprinkles as a backup or make your own sanding sugar with food coloring and granulated sugar.
