Easy Scooby Snack Shot Recipe

This fun and flavorful shot is perfect for parties, girls’ nights, or any celebration. The combination of sweet melon, coconut, and pineapple makes this shot taste like a dessert. I like to top them with a drop of whipped cream for extra fun.

If you were like me, this shot will remind you of Saturday morning cartoons and the time spent watching Scooby-Doo. I loved the Mystery Machine Van, along with the whole gang solving crimes.

The fun bright green color of this drink reminds me of Shaggy’s green shirt, and of course the fun Scooby snack biscuits they were always craving make this drink complete!

If you are looking for more fun party drinks, be sure to try this Lemon Drop Martini, or a non-alcoholic Roy Rogers or Shirley Temple.

Ingredients for a Scooby Snack Shot

Ingredients needed to make scooby snack shots on a marble table.
  • Coconut Rum– (I used Malibu Coconut Rum)Adds a tropical coconut flavor.
  • melon liqueur– Like De Kuyper, Midori or La Belle, for the bright, sweet melon taste.
  • pineapple juice– Brings a fruity, tropical sweetness.
  • heavy cream– Makes the shot rich and creamy.

Optional Garnish

  • Whipped cream: A small dollop on top makes this a fun creamy tropical flavor dessert.
  • Tiny pineapple slice or maraschino cherry: Adds a festive garnish and keeps with the tropical flavors.
  • Scooby Snack graham cracker treat: For an extra fun treat to this drink, add a Scooby snack to the rim of the glass. No, they aren’t dog biscuits! They are actually delicious little graham crackers.

Variations

  • Frozen Scooby Snack ShotIf you want an even cooler drink, just blend the ingredients with ice for a frozen version.
  • No Cream Version: Skip the heavy cream for a lighter, fruitier shot.
  • Add Banana Liqueur: Add ½ ounce banana liqueur for a tropical banana twist. Or try other different fruity liqueurs, just try to stick to tropical fruits.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Use coconut cream or almond milk instead of heavy cream.
  • Make it Full Size Scooby Snack Cocktail: This recipe is for two shots, so you can just strain it into a martini glass for a full size drink.

How to Make a Scooby Snack Shot

STEP 1: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Rum being poured into clear glass cocktail shaker.

STEP 2:  Pour in the coconut rum, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, and heavy cream.

Green scooby snack shot mixture in a clear cocktail shaker on a white marble board.

STEP 3: Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until well combined and chilled.

STEP 4: Strain the mixture into a cold shot glass.

Green liquid cocktail ingredients being strained into shot glass.

STEP 5: Top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a pineapple slice or maraschino cherry.

STEP 6: For a fun touch, serve with a Scooby Snack graham cracker treat on the side or rim. (Because they are graham cracker snacks, not dog treats, you don’t want them to actually be in the drink.)

Tips for Making the Best Scooby Snack Shot

  • Shake well: A good shake chills the shot and creates a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Chill your shot glasses: If you place the shot glasses in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before serving, the drink will stay cold and refreshing.
  • Garnish for fun: The whipped cream and cherry make it look festive. And in my opinion, taste even better.
  • Don’t put Scooby Snacks in the drink: Serve them on the side to avoid sogginess.

FAQ’S

Can I make a batch of Scooby Snack Shots?

Of course! This recipe is for two shots, so if you need enough for a large party, just multiply the ingredients and shake in batches to keep everything cold and well mixed. Leave the ice out until you are ready to serve, otherwise it will water down the drink.

Do I have to use heavy cream?

Heavy cream adds richness, but you can substitute half and half, a splash of French vanilla creamer, or coconut cream for a lighter or dairy-free version. Or just leave it out altogether for a lighter fruity option.

What’s the best way to garnish this shot?

Of course, you can serve them straight out of the shaker, but a dollop of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry or pineapple wedge on the rim adds the perfect finishing touch.
