Variations

Simplify the hats: Instead of sculpting, drizzle thin black lines to create the illusion of Elphaba’s hat.
Color swap: Try purple and silver for a general “Wicked Witch” vibe without movie-specific colors.
Add sparkle: Dust edible glitter over the set chocolate for an extra sparkle!

How to Make Wicked Dipped Strawberries

Fresh strawberries that have been soaked and cleaned, then are drying before dipping.
  1. Soak the strawberries in a vinegar and water solution (1:4 ratio) for about 10 minutes. Rinse, pat dry, and then let them air dry completely. Any moisture will prevent the chocolate from setting. (This solution cleans them and kills any mold and bacteria, so they will stay fresh longer.)
Melted white chocolate, with pink coloring adding, on a table with fresh strawberries.
  1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the white wafers with coconut oil in 15 second increments until smooth. Add pink dye and stir until evenly colored.
Strawberries coated in pink melted chocolate, then spread out onto parchment paper to dry.
  1. Dip the strawberries in a V-shape pattern for a “dress” look.
Dipped strawberries on parchment paper, set to dry.
  1. Drizzle with the same pink chocolate for detail and let set.
Drizzling dark chocolate over dipped strawberries to make a topped look.
  1. Repeat the same process using green dye. For the “hat,” drizzle melted dark or black chocolate over the top.
Melted white chocolate with a touch of red coloring used to make a smirk in lips onto strawberries.
  1. Finish with a tiny red chocolate smirk using a toothpick.
Dipped strawberries left to dry on counter.
  1. Allow strawberries to rest on parchment paper for about an hour. Store uncovered at room temperature for up to 12 hours before serving.

Expert Tips

  • Start with room-temperature strawberries: Cold berries cause condensation and ruin chocolate coating.
  • Be patient melting chocolate: Melt them in 30 second increments to prevent burning.
  • Use good melting wafers: Quality chocolate gives smoother coverage and better flavor.
  • Reuse your leftover chocolate: Spread it flat on plastic wrap to harden, then store for future treats.

Wicked Dipped Strawberries FAQs

How far ahead can I make Wicked dipped strawberries?

They’re best made the day you plan to serve them but can last up to 2–3 days in the refrigerator if stored properly.

Can I use real white chocolate instead of melting wafers?

Yes, but temper carefully. Real white chocolate burns easily, so keep it below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C)

What’s the best way to store leftover dipped strawberries?

Lay them in a single layer over a paper towel in a breathable container and refrigerate loosely covered. Expect light condensation when bringing them back to room temperature.
